Inheritance

Well last Sunday we explored a little bit of my cultural heritage with the practice of ‘Inati’ which I hope was enlightening for you. At the very least, I pray that it might have helped us to consider a collective Christian responsibility and calling to care for those who are vulnerable or in need.

If you had any questions about this practice, you might be able to ask our speaker this week as we have the pleasure of hearing from Rev Nathan Pedro who has a better grasp of Tokelau language and culture than I. He will be giving our reflection during the service and speaking to us from the book of Genesis 26:12-33, touching on the idea of ‘Inheritance’ from a biblical perspective. Please take time to reflect on this passage over the weekend. This coupled with the fact that it is Father’s day, should give us much to dwell on and consider as to who our heavenly Father is and what He has done for us.

The following Sunday (08th September) we will be coming together to fellowship over the Lord’s table as we share communion. Just as we have the last couple of communion Sunday’s, we will share a meal together after the service. Everyone please join together and bring a plate for everyone to share and enjoy, invite those you know to join us so that we might break bread together. We might also have a young Malaysian group from another Presbyterian fellowship to share a couple of songs with us, let’s welcome everyone who joins us with open arms.

Following our Communion Sunday service, we should be back into the book of James and we will pick up from Chapter 2 which touches on the forbidden issue of favoritism! Please continue engaging with the book of James and let’s continue to pray for each other and for our church, that we will obediently love and care for everyone God puts on our path. It is a high calling to be a child of the Most High God. To Him be all the glory.

Josh
