Fourth Sunday of Advent (LOVE)
Well I think we were blessed last Sunday with what I understand was more a message of Love from our speaker Pastor Dongbin Kim. Thankfully I managed to see a replay of the play from last week, and what a wonderful blessing it is to see our young people so keen and excited to share the story of Christmas with us last Sunday! Thank you to all the young people and our leaders, Carolynn and Este for all of your preparation and willingness to share with us.
Although many of our people are currently overseas travelling and there are many also who are under the weather healthwise, this is still a time for us to be joyful. This is also a time for us to be reminded of the most defining moments in our history, the incarnation and birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is a real extension of God’s love into our lives, a love that we as Christians should recognise, acknowledge, be thankful for, and share with those around us. God loves you, He does. And God calls us not only to share this message with others, but also to manifest God’s love so that through us, those around us have a real taste of what the sacrificial love of God is truly like.
Although it is the Advent Sunday of Love, I think Pastor Kim covered love well last Sunday, so maybe I’ll provide a short reflection on Joy, because we should indeed be full of Joy as the Love the God continues to be poured forth into our lives. We have so much to be thankful for.
During this fourth Sunday of Advent, this candle represents the unending love of God that found its perfect embodiment in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This should serve as a poignant reminder of the divine love, the ongoing compassion and goodwill of God. Let us continue to recognise every small blessing of God in our lives because this provides a basis for us to truly live a life of joy that is not dependent on circumstance but rather on the love of God.
May you be blessed with the embrace of God’s love.
